GEOLOGICAL SETTING AND MINERALIZATION
Feldspar porphyry has been intersected in many LONG Bars Zone Phase 2 holes, especially in the Eastern Extension where visible gold and disseminated sulphides have been observed within the porphyry.
The Granada Gold Property, five kilometers south of the famous mining community of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, lies within the prolific Abitibi Greenstone Belt, one of the largest greenstone belts in the world which has produced over 160 million ounces of gold.
The “Cadillac Trend”, a major focus for gold mineralization in Quebec, traverses the northern part of the property. Numerous gold occurrences and mines are spatially related to the Cadillac Fault regional structure. Multiple secondary faults at Granada have become areas of intense interest - they may have acted as permeable conduits for mineralizing fluids as higher grades in the LONG Bars Zone appear to be concentrated in close proximity to these structures.
Visible gold in GR-10-12.
Granada is a sediment-hosted, structurally controlled vein-type deposit (quartz veins, veinlets, stockworks, breccias) that has been intruded by a series of syenite feldspar porphyry dykes mineralized with finely disseminated pyrite and/or arsenopyrite. It is underlain by conglomerates and greywackes of the Archean Timiskaming group sediments. These rocks appear to be intensely hydrothermally altered.
Two types of altered feldspar porphyry (favorable for gold mineralization) encountered at Granada.
GENIVAR, Gold Bullion's previous geological consultant, reports that visible gold and disseminated sulphides, along with large alteration zones, have been observed within feldspar porphyry in numerous Phase 2 holes (assays pending), especially over the Eastern Extension. This is an interesting development historically for Granada as a 2006 Technical Report on the property stated that all economic mineralization at Granada was related to quartz veining.
Historic mining operations at Granada concentrated on high grade, more continuous quartz veins which could support underground mining. Gold Bullion has taken a fresh approach to Granada and a much bigger geological picture is beginning to emerge.
